In the South, monograms are a big deal...as big as Texas! With that being said, I decided to play with my new Silhouette Cameo and monogram everything a few things.
So, I waited for Caleb to nap, and then I pulled out my new toy. Hello, lover...
I grabbed my journals {yes, I wanted to monogram my journals...don't judge}, and took their measurements. The journal on the left is the one I use for Bible study, and the one on the right is my One Thousand Gifts journal where I write my "thanks". I wanted to make them purdy...I told you, it's a southern thing.
After, I designed my monogram on the computer, I used my Silhouette to cut the design on indoor/outdoor white vinyl {bought on Amazon}, and because it cuts the roll of vinyl, I then had to use my straight edge cutter to cut the design off the roll.
Peeled the extra vinyl and boom...that's whatcha got!
I printed a million few more of my monograms.
I had to use transfer paper to place the vinyl on my items.
I tested my vinyl monogram design on a plastic tumbler first {hey, I really like my journals. I didn't want to risk making them ugly}.
I got this cup a couple of weekends back when my hubby surprised me with a Gaylord Texan staycation! I'll have to update y'all on that later.
Well, what do you know! It worked and it was easy to transfer to the cup! {I've been handwashing my cup since adding the vinyl and so far it hasn't bubbled or come off}.
Then, I added it to my precious journals!
I told you monograms make everything pretty!
Next, I moved my monogramming madness to the bathroom. Yes, the guest bathroom. I have this lotion bottle, and while it's helpful for the hands {DFW is so dry} it super u.g.l.y..
Ah! Ugly bottle {ok, I'm being dramatic...but I needed an excuse to monogram something else because Caleb was still napping. He takes a good 2-3hrs. Holla!}
This time, I used Bryan and my initials' in a cursive monogram.
It looked so pretty, I had to add it to the lotion bottle in the kitchen. {borderline crazy?}
Finally, I moved on to testing out the heat transfer {smooth} Silhouette paper. I made a monogrammed shirt for Caleb's bff Mr. I.
And, a shirt for Caleb. Caleb has the perfect initials for a circle monogram, CGK, I'm slightly jealous.
Caleb finally woke up while I was making the shirts. I was ironing the heat transfer, while feeding him cheerios...Bryan came home from work and looked at me like I was crazy. I told Bryan, "it's monogramming madness day".
Monogramming madness or Southern necessity?
I love this idea for Kailyn's school supplies.
ReplyDeleteyes! Teach Kailyn early to monogram everything!! Wish I did...since my initials ended up staying the same ;-)

DeleteI guess since I am in Texas now I need to hop on the bandwagon. We are going to the Gaylord Texan on Thursday. I'm interested to see what you thought.
ReplyDeleteYay the move is over! I LOVE the Gaylord! We usually spend a day there every Christmas season and do all the touristy things {ICE event, dinner, pictures}, but this was our first overnight stay. Everything was GREAT! My only complaint is the bed was too firm...but I'm super picky b/c I have a bad back. Welcome to Texas!

I recently bought a silhouette and have been dying to know how to get the circular monogram font. Did you make it yourself or did you purchase it?
ReplyDeleteI made it on photoshop by bulging the font...but you can purchase the circle monogram font here: http://www.fontbros.com/families/circle-monograms it's $20. Might be worth it! =)
DeleteHow did your heat transfer monograms wash? Did you dry them? Love your projects!!
ReplyDeleteI wash all my silhouette heat transfer projects on cold/delicate (add a little bleach for colors, bc hey, I have a messy boy), and dry on low/delicate heat, and so far his shirts still look pretty good ;-) xo, viv
