{Pregnancy Wrap-Up}

My pregnancy is hours away from being over...I can't believe it!!! I'm hoping I go into labor either today or tomorrow, but if not, my doctor has scheduled an induction for Thursday. She's concerned about the baby's size and wants to avoid a Caleb be a small baby and all this concern is for nothing! So, no matter what our first child will be here Thursday! I cannot wait to meet him!!

So, let's wrap-up and summarize this pregnancy! The last week of January we went to Maui to take a "babymoon" and have one last big sha-bang as just the two of us:

After a lot of praying we got pregnant a week or so after the trip! I found out the night before my birthday that we were pregnant and it was the BEST gift ever...more proof that God's timing is perfect!

Caleb has been ranging in the 55% for growth, I've gained 26lbs, and my belly is shooting out like a torpedo! My girlfriend, Sarah, came over this weekend and we laughed about all the "mean" things people say when you're pregnant.

We know people don't mean to be rude/hurtful, but here is a list of things NOT to say to a hormonal pregnant person:
1. "You're about to pop!" {especially hurtful when you still have 3+ weeks to go}
2. "Wow! You're huge!"
3. "Ah look at you're belly! I never got that big when I was pregnant."
4. "I can't tell that you're pregnant from behind, until you start to waddle."
5. "You're due any day now, huh?" {no, I still have 3 more weeks, but thanks you too!}
6. "I can tell you're ready for this baby because you look exhausted!" {Thanks! I feel miserable and glad you cared enough to tell me that I look it too!}

Sarah and I just died laughing as we shared all the things people have said to us during our pregnancy! We know people didn't intentionally mean to be ugly or hurtful, but the things people say can be so unnecessary. We both agree to avoid Wal-Mart while you're pregnant, because the other shoppers have word-vomit and say the "meanest" things.

Kind advice: if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Here are other options to say to someone pregnant who is huge or looks terrible:
1. "When are you due?" {it's nice to ask not just assume our fat butts are due tomorrow}
2. "Do you know what you're having?"
3. or don't say anything...just smile at a pregnant person and not stare like we are about to give birth to a monster in the middle of a grocery store.

Additional info: people tell you that swelling is a common side effect, but wow, I didn't know how bad it could get. I haven't been able to wear my wedding rings since week 22ish, and my feet AND legs have swelled up. I could have dressed up like a hobbit for halloween! Here's what my feet looked like pre-pregnancy:

And here's what they look like now {the dent on my foot is from me touching it to show the swelling}:

Good times!

The crazy comments I hear from strangers, the pregnancy side-effects, my hobbit legs and feet, my torpedo's ALL worth it! I can't wait to meet my gift from God and hold and kiss him!

Farewell pregnancy! And hello motherhood!
